Code of Conduct
1. Wiggle Waggle work to a ‘do no harm’ work ethic.
2. Wiggle Waggle practices positive reinforcement training techniques with an understanding of natural dog behaviour, with the aim of sharing canine knowledge with the owner, and achieving as far as possible a well socialized and well behaved dog.
3. Wiggle Waggle opposes the use of techniques and equipment that harm, hurt or frighten a dog.
4. Wiggle Waggle practices and advocates training methods that are based on:
• Positively encouraging and reinforcing desired behaviours.
• Discouraging undesired, unwanted or potentially dangerous behaviours with an acceptable level of ‘interruption behaviour techniques’ where necessary.
5. Wiggle Waggle will conduct all services provided honestly, professionally, compassionately and with integrity, performed in accordance to these services within the guidelines of this code.
6. Karen Wigglesworth continues to monitor the latest research in canine behaviour through all sources available and will continue to develop additional skills and knowledge through professional development.
7. Karen Wigglesworth will always take into account the physical and psychological well being of the client and the individual dog/s when creating a training plan and behaviour modification treatment program.
8. Karen Wigglesworth will refer a client to another behaviour advisor should the problematic and undesired behaviour be beyond our professional limits and ability.
9. Wiggle Waggle will always adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018; and will not disclose any information pertaining to a client or their dog without the client’s verbal and written permission.
10. Karen Wigglesworth will always respect the views of other dog trainers and behaviour advisors, and will not publicly deprecate their conduct, methods or opinions unless the conduct, method or opinions could be considered as abuse.
11. Karen Wigglesworth will maintain professional relationships with my clients and will not exploit such relationships for improper personal, professional or financial gain, nor seek inappropriately to impose our own values on clients.
12. Karen Wigglesworth will conduct work at all times work with considering of the health and safety of the trainer, the client and the welfare of the dog/s and the general public maintaining
a valid public liability and/or professional indemnity insurance policy.
13. This code of conduct is a living document and will be developed to reflect adaptive dog training techniques.
